We're all more used to seeing Goodman as Dan in Roseanne but he has made some top turns as a movie actor too. He has appeared in four Coen Brother's films with his first being the Coen's second, Raising Arizona as Gale, HI's prison 'pal' who escapes and pays a not completely welcome visit on HI and Ed. Next came his stunning, bizarre and unpredicatable role as Charlie Meadows in 1991's Barton Fink. This is, for me, his best performance ever. He has an voice only part in The Hudsucker Proxy as a newsreel announcer and is credited as Karl Mundt, the real name of the character he plays in Barton Fink. Finally, of course, is his show stealing part as Vietnam Vet, Walter Sobchak in The Big Lebowski. I highly recommend that you see the Goodman starrer, Matinee, he plays a truly obsessed B-movie director and tries all manner of gimmicks to woo the audience. It is a really great film that'll make your sides hurt.
