John Turturro


Where do I start? Turturro is one of the most regular Coen castings consistantly playing geeky types. He's appeared in three Coen productions initially playing Bernie Bernbaum in Miller's Crossing. Bernie is quite a central character in the mix of things in Miller's as he sits uncomfortably between Tom and Verna, while looking completely after numero uno. Then, of course, came Barton Fink where he played the title character in a bizarre tale about writer's block, murder and friendship. In The Big Lebowski he plays the convicted paedophile and sometime bowling legend, Jesus Quintana, a completely odious creep of a man. Other Turturro movies I recommend you see are Quiz Show, Do The Right Thing and the De Niro starrer Raging Bull.
