Better know as Frasier's dad in the hit US sitcom, Cheers spin-off, John Mahoney has appeared in some 40 movies, most of the notable ones coming in the 1990's with the likes of Striking Distance, In The Line of Fire, Reality Bites, Primal Fear, She's The One and a voice over part in the computer generated animation movie, Antz. Not to forget of course an appearance in two Coen Brother's films. His amazing performance as an alcoholic novellist, WP Mayhew, in Barton Fink is the more memorable and substantial of the two roles. His part as the newspaper chief in The Hudsucker Proxy nothing more than a cameo.
