The Coen Brothers

Fargo is NOT actually based on a true story. The message at the beginning of the movie is a typical Coen Brother's joke.

The shoot was continually interrupted and re-located all over Canada, North Dakota and Minnesota due to the melting of the snow brought on by approaching spring.

There is a credit for Artist Formerly Known As Prince (his bizarre logo anyway) in the end credits for the part of 'Victim In Field' but the part is played by J. Todd Anderson.

Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox are real, but are not specific to Brainerd, they spring up all over American folklore. This picture is from the Trees Of Mystery on California's North Coast.
