STEVE'S NEWS

A little on-line update every so often whenever something interesting happens in my life, for the benefit of the friends I don't get to see often, or not at all.

APRIL 1999

Well it's been a quiet old month so far; but then again it's only the 1st week! I've got my University exams in two weeks time and I'm not looking forward them, but then again who does? I've got a lot of studying to do but I'd rather be spending my time constructing this page instead! I guess that I'll have to get used to the work though, because it's only going to get harder in the years to come and it'll be worth it in the end.

I went for a job interview last week and actually did quite well in the test, scoring 97% accuracy. Damn! I don't want the damn job because it's a dead end, but as I don't have any other options at the moment I'll have to take it if I get the offer. I do enough typing at home and at University. I certainly don't want to have to do it for a living too! Jesus! Who wants to punch a keyboard forever? Not me.

March was a bad month and I feel like I've had open-wallet surgery without an anaesthetic! Mum's birthday, Dad's birthday and Mother's Day to add insult to poverty <s>. I wonder if I can get a special government grant to cover social events? Come to think of it, I didn't get any Easter eggs this year (again!) and I'm feeling a bit left out of things! Come to think of it, March was pretty bad all round. The VCR died, the Hi-fi is terminally ill and the PC had so many missing files that it should be renamed a Watergate instead of a computer. (Sorry, bad joke.) So, there is just one thing I want to say to those people who laugh at me for buying warranties. HaHaHaHa!

By the way, for those who know me and haven't seen me for a while, I am a lot better now. Let's just hope that 1999 doesn't see a repeat of last year's health problems, as I think my Doctor is getting sick to death of seeing me in her office. I'm thinking of making an appointment to see her just to tell her how well I'm feeling these days, which will doubtless surprise her I think. With a little bit of luck and persistence, you should be seeing the new and improved Steve over the next few months and I'm sure you'll be happy to hear that.

On a sad note, I have to say bye-bye to my pen pal Berni who's leaving at the end of this month. She's packing up her gear and heading out to Australia to bum around for a year, so if she owes you money you'd better get her quickly! Just kidding old buddy <s>. Berni and I have been writing to each other for a few years now, so Berni, there's no excuse for you not to send me postcards okay? Seriously though, take care of yourself and keep in touch because I'm going to miss you lots!

Well today (Saturday) saw the last of my two exams this week, all I have left to do is a presentation and two projects and semester one is GONE! I can't wait to get my normal life back after another three weeks, maybe I can get back to some song-writing as it's been a while since I got anything done. Have you ever wondered why after an exam, we all feel the need to do a post mortem on it? It's the worst thing in the world to do because you can guarantee that everyone's answers are different, so you start thinking " Did I get that one right?" Anyway, the rest of today was taken at a nice leisurely pace, with a few coffees over at Gary's place and catching up with what's been happening with us over the past 2 weeks.

Talking of catching up, will Jackie and Wendy please write to me and let me know if they're still alive?
