DIRk hears a mouthorgan being played and comes across a man playing it in one of the hangers. DIRK: What are you doing here? MAN: I'm on duty crew sir. DIRK: Where did you get that? MAN: This sir? It's Mr Greeno's sir. He dropped it getting into his aircraft. I've been polishing it up a bit sir. DIRK: I see. I wondered what the noise was. MAN: It's not much of a mouthorgan sir. It's a bit out of tune but I reckon it's more of a mascot like sir. DIRK: Yes. You're in Mr Greeno's crew aren't you? MAN: Yes sir. Fitter. A. Been with them ever since I've been in the squadron sir. DIRK: Where do you come from? MAN: Sheffield, sir. DIRK: Any family up there? MAN: They are that sir. Missus and two kids. Father and mother like. DIRK: You've got two children have you? MAN: Yes sir. We've got another one on the way too sir. DIRK: Good heavens! Managing all right? MAN: As well as can be expected sir. What with all the bombing and all that. Missus, she gets a bit lonely but I keep telling her, It's not as if I'm flying. DIRK: No, it's not like flying. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
