Doctor In The House (1954)
| Character: Dr Simon Sparrow | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
Comedy in Colour. Features:Donald Sinden, Shirley Eaton and James Robertson Justice who all appear in Doctor At Large. Also Features: Kenneth More, Joan Sims (who was a Carry-On star) and Joan Hickson who later went on to play Miss Marple! Video: Available at Blackstar for £6.99. Now this is my favourite Doctor film. This is the first in the series and sees Simon entering medical school for the first time. It works well having the four students and their adventures shown, rather than just Dirk. Dirk manages to graduate in style.

The four lads are sitting in the pub drinking pints of guinness. KEN: Landlady's daughter. Oldest joke in the world. DIRK: Yes, well this one went a bit too far. TAFFY: Women are all the same boy. I was talking to a lad in the psychiatric ward the other day. He calls it behaviour pattern or something. DIRK: I've given in my notice. DONALD: Well I don't quite get why. She sounds rather a good show - if you like that sort of thing - phwoar! TAFFY: Doesn't do your rugby any good. KEN: Have you found anywhere else? DIRK: Nope. KEN: Are you clean in your habits? DIRK: Hmm? KEN: What I mean is, do you drink beer in bed? DIRK: No! KEN: Ah, I was going to suggest you move in with all of us but...I doubt if the domestic climate would be congenial. DIRK: I could always...learn how to drink beer in bed? ALL: Ah! Ay!
