Drama/Comedy in Black and White. Features: The Guy in Allo Allo who also played a German Officer! Video: Unavailable in the UK This film is very like the Great Escape but strangely enough more believable. The dry humour in the film is great and makes it all the more better than the Great Escape. A good war film although it doesn't really focus on the 'horrors' but then again, that wouldn't have made it as good a film would it? The eyebrow is great in this film...

Dirk has escaped from the crowd on their way to the labour camp. He finds a house and a woman and her children hide him in the barn. He hides under some straw. The Germans decide to take over the barn to put their sick and injured soldiers in it. The soldiers limp in and lie in the straw. Dirk sees a blanket and covers himself in it. He sees a German guard giving out bread and grabs one for himself. The woman who owns the farm has been pushed into giving the soldiers water. She hands Dirk a cup and recognises him and looks shocked that he's sitting in amongst all the Germans. He grins and shrugs. They move all the soldiers into a field hospital. Dirk's still lying in the blanket on a bed. The bloke next to him asks him if he wants a cigarette. Dirk nods. A doctor comes around the ward and asks Dirk his name. He gives it as Carl Joseph. Your number? Dirk looks blankly back at him. The bloke next to Dirk makes little circles by his forehead indicating that he's mad. Three generals enter. Dirk does 'the eyebrow'. They talk to various patients. Dirk's eyes go heavenward. Dirk looks across to see them pinning medals on the patients. Dirk rolls his eyes as they come over to him and pin a medal on him and shake his hand. A doctor speaks to the General and they come back to Dirk. They pull the blanket back and there are cries of 'English!'. Dirk shrugs and can't believe his bad luck. The eyebrow goes up once again.
